Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and Syncrude are proud to announce the 12th nominee for the Women of Inspiration series 2014-2015:

Angela Scoble

Angela Scoble’s philosophy on her community involvement and life is summed up in a quote from Historian Edward Everett Hale “I am only one, I cannot do everything, but I can do something, and I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.” Angela demonstrates this philosophy by her enthusiasm in all she does. She presently sits on the chair of the Fort McMurray Famous 5 Committee. The Enbridge Famous 5 speaker series was launched in 1996 to honour 5 Albertan women who fought for women’s rights. These women Emily Murphy, Nellie McClung, Henrietta Muir Edwards, Louise McKinney and Irene Parlby are women of inspiration that Angela looks up to. As the chair of this committee Angela spends countless hours researching and reaching out to inspirational women across Canada and asks them to share their experiences with local people. A great deal of effort goes into ensuring that students are given the opportunity to hear these speakers and the interactive program that accompanies the evening allows all participants the opportunity to explore their own potential to inspire and make a difference. Angela is a wonderful team member on this committee.

Angela also is actively involved in other activities that add great value to the quality of life for the region. She is the chair of the Suncor Business Centre United Way campaign and as a team member; the participation rate is a source of pride for her and her team. She recognizes the importance of a strong United Way and goes above and beyond to make the campaign a success.

Angela finds the time to also volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta, the Northern Lights Foundation’s Festival of the Trees, the Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family and the Timberlea Public School. All the while she is a strong supporter for the athletic activities of her two sons who are busy with Minor Hockey and Minor Baseball Associations. She has filled the role of mom, team manager and head cheerleader.

Angela Scoble lives the ‘strong, smart and bold mandate and is a much deserving nominee for the Girls Inc. Woman of Inspiration.

Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and Syncrude will honour Angela and 11 other nominees, at the Women of Inspiration Celebration which will take place Sunday June 21st, 2015 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 165, 9317 Huggard St, Fort McMurray, an Afternoon Tea: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM Tickets: $50 each, $450 for a table.
