Volunteer & Mentor

Girls Inc of Northern Alberta is involved in the community in many ways. The assistance of volunteers aids us in successfully reaching our goals of inspiring all girls to be Strong, Smart and Bold. Volunteers have the power to have an enormous impact on the girls in our community and within our programs.

The many ways that volunteers can become involved with our organization are by participating in Programming, Community Event or being a part of our Board of Directors.

Below we have outlined several ways that volunteers can become involved.

Programming:

Our key programs Media Smarts℠ and Friendly PEERsuasion® are taught within local schools throughout the RMWB.  Having guest speakers visit and discuss their real life experience with program content helps the girls to connect deeper with the concepts of Media Literacy, substance abuse awareness, and it allows them to see local role models.

Program volunteers will always work directly with a Girls Inc. staff person and use their own skills to enhance girls’ learning. Programs are offered in-school during regular school hours, evenings, and weekends and on school holidays.

Community Events:

Do you enjoy being involved in the community… and have a few hours to spare at key Girls Inc. events?  Perhaps you would like to get involved in the planning or day of operation of any of our annual events.

  • Women of Inspiration Series
  • Annual Golf Tournament
  • Annual Zombie Run
  • Annual Fundraising Casino Event

 Board of Directors:

Perhaps you are interested in becoming involved in the overall management of the organization. We are looking for committed men and women with a variety of expertise.  Board membership requires monthly attendance to board meetings that assistance in steering the direction of our orgnization.  Our board are our greatest allies and friends.

Becoming a Girls Inc. Volunteer/Mentor:

We ask that those interested in being volunteers or mentors submit either an Event Volunteer Registration Form or a Mentor Registration Form, by doing so we will understand what skills you have and what vision you would like your volunteer experience to be like.
