The Girls Inc. Lucile Miller Wright Scholars Program

This program was created when Lucile Miller Wright, a long-time supporter of Girls Inc. and a pioneer aviator, made a bequest from her estate to fund scholarships expressly for young women members.  The Girls Inc. Lucile Miller Wright Scholars Program is the largest girls-only scholarship in the United States and Canada that allows young women to pursue a college degree of their choice, at an institution of their choice.

The purpose of the Scholars Program is to make post-secondary education more accessible by offsetting the financial costs. Our goal is to inspire members to succeed in school and to consider a broad range of career possibilities.

Since 1993, Girls Inc. has awarded over $3.3 million in scholarships to hundreds of high school girls in Canada and the United States.  There are 2 levels of Scholar ship available $5,000 and $20,000.  These Scholarships are awarded each year and may be applied to tuition and expenses at any accredited 2- or 4-year college or university. This is a private scholarship, open only to young women who are in the 11th or 12th grade and who are members of a Girls Inc. affiliate.
