We are pleased to offer the S.M.A.R.T. Program (Science, Math, and Relevant Technology) for the 6th year. This 7 session program is designed to introduce girls aged 10-14* to engineering concepts. The program will consist of weekly 3 hour sessions that will include discussions of basic scientific theory as well as activities that will reinforce engineering principles and introduce the engineering disciplines.
Girls are often overly cautious in the lab or on the playground and have few chances to assess risks and solve problems on their own. This program creates a safe space to let girls learn to embrace their intellectual curiosity and trust their own judgment.
With generous financial support from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Suncor Energy Inc. the Fort McMurray United Way and Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) Education Foundation this program is free of charge. We work hard to remove financial barriers to ensure that we are able to uphold our mantra of “Inspiring ALL girls to be Strong, Smart and Bold.”
