Girls Beware is a full-one day community workshop for girls ages 12-16. Girls learn about community resources they may need to access as they are finding their independence. It is delivered by Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta in direct response to a request from a parent who found their daughter engaging in high risk behaviour. This program focuses on violence prevention and safety for young girls. In the past, we have invited speakers from: Victim Services, Wood Buffalo Detachment of the RCMP, and Waypoints (formerly Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society).
Topics covered include:
• Risky Behaviour | • Cyber Bullying |
• Peer Pressure | • Community Resources |
• Self Defense Training | • Internet Safety |
• Healthy Relationships | • Domestic Violence |
• Critical Thinking Skills Development |
