Fall Programs Schedule

MONDAY: Economic Literacy (Virtual)
Ages 9+, 6-7pm

Economic Literacy seeks to empower girls to recognize early on that they can exercise control over their financial future, to promote with girls a sense of economic justice, and to develop skills they need to make informed decisions. Participants will explore topics including but not limited to budgeting, savings, and how we as individuals play a role in our local and global economy.

TUESDAY: Staying Strong Mentoring (In person)
Ages 6-8, 4:30-5:30pm
Ages 9+, 4:30-5:30pm

Mentoring focuses on healthy lifestyles, self-esteem, art, leadership, and anti-bullying through activities facilitated by trained youth and adult mentors with Girls Inc. staff. Mentoring helps to build self-confidence and enhance relationships with family and peers while developing a higher engagement in one’s community.

WEDNESDAY: Power of Stories (In person)
Ages 6-8, 4:30-5:30pm

Power of Stories is taught through the Teaching of the Grandmothers. It covers the medicine wheel and how we can use these teachings to bring balance and wellness to our lives. The program shares the various Indigenous traditions of the Wood Buffalo regions.

THURSDAY: Media Smarts (Virtual)
Ages 6-8, 4:30-5:30pm
Ages 9+ 6:00-7:00pm

Girls increase awareness of the scope and power of the media and the effects of media messages on girls and women.

SATURDAY: Operation SMART (In person)
Ages 9+, 10am-12pm

Through hands-on activities, girls explore, ask questions, persist, and solve problems relating to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). By interacting with women role models in STEM, girls come to develop interest in these areas and view these careers as exciting and attainable options for themselves.

Girls Inc. is proud to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold members of their communities. Each year we provided intensive life-changing programming and experiences to more than 1,000 girls.
Currently we are virtually facilitating our programs in schools throughout the Region.  If you would like to have a program at your school or community group please contact us at [email protected] or call our Office 780 790 9236. We are flexible with times, dates and accommodate the needs of teachers and students.
