2016 SMART Program

For a 5th year Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and BrainStem Alliance are partnering to inspire the next generation of Female Engineers by offering the SMART program (Science, Math and Relevant Technology).  This is an 8 session program where girls ages 10-14 will work with female engineers to explore the vast array of engineering disciplines.   This is a hands on, interactive, and life transforming program.

Let’s make big, interesting mistakes!  Girls are often overly cautious in the lab or on the playground and have few chances to assess risks and solve problems on their own. This program creates a safe space to let girls learn to embrace their intellectual curiosity and trust their own judgment.

With generous financial support from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, the Fort McMurray United Way and Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) this program is free of charge.  We work hard to remove financial barriers to ensure that we are able to uphold our mantra of “Inspiring ALL girls to be Strong, Smart and Bold.”
