How it Started
The series started in 2012, first presented by Syncrude who remains an integral partner of Girls Inc., with a goal to recognize women throughout the Wood Buffalo region who inspire others, break new ground or old barriers and help create positive change.
The series has honoured 97 inspiring women from the Wood Buffalo region, showing young girls positive role models who live right here.
Bouchier Partners with Girls Inc.
In February 2019, Bouchier committed $125,000 over five years towards the Women of Inspiration program, Bouchier is committed to recognizing excellence in female leadership in Wood Buffalo.
Embarking on a renewed journey with a significant commitment of $75,000 over three years, and an option for a two-year extension, this alliance is initiating another phase entitled ‘Waves of Change: Charting the Path to Inspiration’.
Over the last ten years, Bouchier and Girls Inc. has maintained a close working partnership by supporting various programs, events and vehicle donations.

Where we are Now
The Women of Inspiration Celebration, presented by Bouchier, celebrates and honours five outstanding local women of the Wood Buffalo region. These are local women who are role models, inspirations and transformers. They represent what it means to be strong, smart and bold – you can’t be, what you can’t see. In 2020, we ‘shattered’ the (in)visible barriers surrounding the everyday life of girls and women. In 2021, we brought those shattered pieces together to celebrate the rich ‘mosaic’ they created. In 2022, we amplified one another’s ‘voices’ represented in the mosaic. In 2023, we came ‘together’ to strengthen and empower such voices. And in 2024, we encouraged everyone to pause and reflect on the word ‘(em)power’. What power do each of us have to ignite, impact, and inspire one another?
The 2024-2025 theme is ‘Leaders of Today’. This year, the series will honour five local women in leadership roles across various sectors across the RMWB, like politics, business, education, community development, and many other decision-making spaces – who are exemplifying the courage, strength, and determination that Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and Bouchier advocate for.

2020/2021 - MOSAIC - Towards Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Fort McMurray (March 16) — Over 300 attendees joined Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta (Girls Inc.) in celebrating and awarding five local women at its MOSAIC: Women of Inspiration Virtual Celebration presented by Bouchier on March 8, 2021.
