Girls Inc.'s efforts to limit spread of COVID-19

There is an increasing sense of anxiety and confusion regarding COVID-19 and the potential impact on our programming.

Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta takes the well-being of our girls, families, stakeholders and staff very seriously.  We make every possible effort to avoid any harm, including discriminatory actions induced by the situation.

In-school and after school programming has been postponed until further notice. This includes: Staying Strong Mentoring on Tuesdays, Girls at Bat on April 15-16 as well as Reaching SMART on April 25-26.

We will provide updates as necessary.

How Coronavirus Spreads:

Human coronaviruses cause infections of the nose, throat and lungs. They are most commonly spread from an infected person through:

  • respiratory droplets generated when you cough or sneeze
  • close, prolonged personal contact, such as touching or shaking hands
  • touching something with the virus on it, then touching your mouth, nose or eyes before washing your hands
