Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta’s 11th Woman of Inspiration 2017-2018 Presented by Syncrude Announced

(Fort McMurray) Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and Syncrude are proud to announce the 11th nominee for the Women of Inspiration series 2017-2018:

Diana Moser

Diana Moser moved to Fort McMurray in 2011 and quickly became an active community member. Diana holds a BA and an MA in History from McMaster University as well as a Master of Museum Studies (MMSt) from the University of Toronto. She has worked in a variety of settings, including historic house museums, a science centre, university departments and within municipal and provincial government structures. Her skills include program and event development and delivery, communications, promotions and marketing, project management, budget development, supervisory and management experience, and collaboration with community, social profit , education, private and government organizations. Diana brought a wealth of skills and expertise to her new home in RMWB.

Ms. Moser started her work career in McMurray at the Discovery Centre. Shortly after her arrival, she joined the Arts Council of Wood Buffalo. There she lead multiple initiatives to promote arts in the region including: Suncor Student Arts Award Program, Business of the Arts workshop series, Inside the Artists Studio workshop in partnership with the Artist in Residency program, Art themed Urban Market in partnership with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and the Wood Buffalo Excellence in Arts Awards program and showcase event.

With lots and lots of energy and enthusiasm, Ms. Moser works tirelessly to promote the amazing art of our region through various committees. In 2015 Diana helped to coordinate the Western Canada Summer Games as the co-chair of the Festivals portfolio. More recently, she was a part of the 2018 Wood Buffalo Alberta Winter Games as the Director of Culture, Ceremonies and Protocol. Ms. Moser was pleased to help showcase the best that Woof Buffalo has to offer both provincially and nationally.

Ms. Moser proudly boasts that she” works and plays in the arts.” Diana is also the Program Director at Theatre, Just Because, a homegrown Fort McMurray based independent theatre company. Through this company, Diana has helped to organize countless workshops and performances, encouraging all members of the community to get involved. You can catch Ms. Moser in one of many Keyano Theatre performances – where she excels at acting and singing. Ms. Moser commitment and enthusiasm for community involvement is an example to all young girls and women- to take a risk, follow your heart and throw yourself into whatever brings you satisfaction. She is an excellent ambassador for the RMWB and an inspiration to all young girls to follow their dream and succeed.

Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta will honour Diana Moser and 11 other nominees at the Women of Inspiration Celebration which will take place June 16, 2018.

The Women of Inspiration is a partnership between Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and Syncrude, with a goal to recognize women throughout the Wood Buffalo region who inspire others, break new ground or old barriers and help create change. The series also aims to show local girls positive role models who live right here.
